Green Terroir is a project of Green Consensus. Green Consensus is a nonprofit organization that particpates in land trusts and offers several services including carbon neutral web hosting, agribusiness consulting, and technological support for social entrepreneurs and fair-trade cooperatives.
Using this website makes an immediate contribution to the well-being of our planet. The profits from this website go exclusively to land conservation activities and carbon offsets. The more you use the website, the more money we can use to retire land and purchase carbon offsets.
We made this website because we were unsatisfied with the technology, presentation, and business practices of other "green search engines". We want to give people a clean search experience and make sure that 100% of the profit goes towards carbon offsets and land conservation (i.e. purchase of land for organic gardens or green spaces).
Click here to see our projects and how much carbon we've saved. Once we get to 70 tons, we will be a partner with Carbon Fund. Our carbon offsets are REC (renewable energy certificates). Our land based projects are also at the above link. Land is purchased with clear title or rights in trust. Land conservation involves improving the quality of soils and biodiversity.
What makes us unique? We don't preselect 'green' sites or modify your search. We believe that being green doesn't require that someone preselect the websites you can search. This website has a non-modified Custom Google Search. So unlike other "green search engines" we enable your freedom on the internet. Search results and ads are based on your search and not on what we preselect for you.
